A two-pet oil portrait can start with one photo of both pets or with separate photos. With separate photos, we first help you choose compatible references, then prepare a combined image for your approval of the pets' sizes and proportions before painting begins.
Two ways to provide your pet photos
Option 1: One photo of both pets
If you already have a photo showing both pets and you are happy with their poses, we can use that photo as the painting reference. Confirm your preferred canvas size, background, and any other details with us before painting begins.
Option 2: Separate photos of each pet
If you do not have a suitable photo of both pets together, send one preferred photo of each pet. Choose lighting and camera angles that match as closely as possible. You do not need to judge this alone: send us your photos, and we will help assess whether the poses, lighting, and angles work together. We may ask for alternative photos if needed.
Approve the combined reference before painting
Once the poses and photos are agreed, we will try combining the two photos into one reference image. We will send it to you to check each pet's size, their size relative to one another, and the overall proportions and placement. Painting begins only after you approve the combined reference and confirm the remaining details. This photo-composition approval happens before painting and is separate from your finished-artwork review before shipping.
Choose one main photo for each pet
Look for visible eyes, a clear muzzle, recognizable coat markings, and the pose you want to keep. For a full-body portrait, include the paws and tail where possible. Name each file after the pet so we can match every reference correctly.
Check angle, light, and scale

For example, an eye-level photo of a standing dog and an overhead photo of a seated dog show different body perspectives. We may ask for another reference rather than assume details that are not visible. This is a photo-selection example, not a requirement that both pets share an identical pose.
Tell us how you want them together
Two dogs, two cats, or a dog-and-cat pair can share one canvas. Tell us their names, preferred placement, whether you want head, half-body, or full-body composition, and which background you prefer. Include collars, clothing, or meaningful objects in your instructions before painting begins.
If only a few photographs remain
Send the best available original photo plus any supporting views that confirm markings or proportions. Enlarging a blurry picture cannot restore missing detail. We will review what the references support and explain whether another crop or composition would work better.
Your photo submission checklist
- One shared photo with poses you like, or one preferred main photo for each pet.
- One or two close-ups if eyes, markings, or coat color are unclear.
- A shared photo or written description of their relative size.
- Each pet's name and the reference photo assigned to them.
- Your background, placement, and accessory requests.

Choose your canvas
The two-pet oil portrait is available in 40 × 50 cm (approximately 15.7 × 19.7 in) and 50 × 60 cm (approximately 19.7 × 23.6 in). Use paper cut to those dimensions to compare the space on your wall. Confirm your preferred composition with us before painting.
Painting takes 7–10 business days after the required photos and details are confirmed. Shipping takes a further 7–10 business days. You can review the finished artwork before shipping.
