You do not need one perfect group photo for a shared pet portrait. Send separate photos for us to review: once the poses, lighting, and angles work together, we will prepare a combined reference for you to approve before painting.
Photo options for one shared multi-pet portrait
Option 1: One group photo
If one photo already shows all the pets and you are happy with their poses, we can paint from that reference after you confirm the size, background, and other details.
Option 2: Separate photos
If a suitable group photo is not available, send one preferred photo for each pet. Lighting and camera angles should match as closely as possible. Send us the photos for help: we will assess the poses, lighting, and angles together and let you know if another reference is needed.
Confirm sizes and proportions before painting
After the photos and poses are agreed, we will try combining them into one reference image. You will review each pet's size, the pets' sizes relative to one another, and the overall proportions and placement. We begin painting only after you approve this combined reference and confirm the remaining details. You can also review the finished artwork before shipping.
Start with one clear photo per pet
Choose a photo where each pet’s face, eyes, coat markings, and body position are easy to see. Natural light helps, but a professional photo is not required. Add one face close-up when a marking or eye color is hard to see in the main reference.
Plan the composition, not the snapshot
Tell the artist which pets should appear beside one another, whether you prefer a face-focused or full-body composition, and what type of background you like. Separate photos can be unified into one painted setting, even if the pets were never photographed together.
Choose the right format
A two-pet portrait works well for a pair of dogs, cats, or a mixed-pet family. For a larger group, choose a shared canvas with three or four pets. If you prefer each pet to have their own canvas, an individual portrait set creates a coordinated gallery wall.
Before you order
- Send one clear reference photo for each pet.
- Add a close-up if a key detail is not visible.
- Share preferred placement, background, or accessory details.
- Let us know if the pets are different sizes or photographed in different lighting.
